Automobile Customs Revenues Increased by Over 58 Billion Dram: Ananyan

In Armenia, last year, customs clearance was obtained for 189,018 vehicles, resulting in a revenue of 95 billion dram for the state budget. This announcement was made by the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) David Ananyan during a press conference.

"In 2019, customs clearance was obtained for 189,018 vehicles, compared to 64,082 in the previous year. The revenues from vehicle levies for the state budget amounted to approximately 95 billion dram, which is an increase of 58 billion dram compared to 2018," Ananyan stated.

He also addressed concerns raised by critics regarding the lack of an unprecedented influx of vehicles in 2020 and how the planned budget revenue targets would be achieved. Ananyan noted that the decision to return 56.4 billion dram in debit balances to taxpayers in 2019 was aimed at neutralizing the temporary revenue effect that vehicles had during that year.

“The concerns expressed by critics regarding whether the revenues from vehicles were temporary gains are valid, but we have neutralized the negative consequences of those temporary revenues. Therefore, in 2020, we will have budget revenues that, in our view, will exceed those planned in the 2020 state budget law," Ananyan assured.
