MP Naira Zohrabyan Joins Drivers' Auto Rally Against Points System

Armenian National Assembly MP Naira Zohrabyan has announced on her Facebook page:
“I am joining the drivers' auto rally. It wasn’t necessary to be a fortune teller to predict that the points system for drivers, which came into force on January 1, is a trap for drivers. I am a citizen who supports legality, and I am a citizen who believes that a driver caught driving under the influence should lose their driving license on the spot. However, I find it unfair to penalize a driver and revoke their license after 'collecting' 9 points within a year when we do not have properly equipped parking areas. Even if one were as skilled as Schumacher, it would be impossible not to commit any violation under the points system given Yerevan's traffic conditions. It's simply not feasible.

Now, what is my proposal to my colleagues from the ruling 'My Step' faction, the authors of this law? Let's reconsider this system; it is simply a trap for all drivers who have not committed intentional violations. Acknowledge that the introduction of such a system at this time was merely a MISTAKE, plain and simple. If, of course, the aim is not to see the majority of drivers in Armenia deprived of their licenses in six months, thus attempting to address the serious issue of traffic congestion in our country.”
