Gor Abrahamyan Denies Reports of Secret Meeting Involving Security Officials
Gor Abrahamyan, the advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, announced on his Facebook page that no such meeting, especially with such content, and especially not involving the Prosecutor General, has taken place. This statement comes in response to rumors circulating in the press about a secret meeting attended by leaders of security agencies.
“Since yesterday, some media outlets have been disseminating information about a secret meeting supposedly convened by the Prime Minister with leaders of law enforcement agencies, including Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, referencing unnamed sources. It was alleged that during this meeting, the Prime Minister instructed to ‘remove’ the President of the Constitutional Court and other judges,” he wrote.
He added that later on, other reports emerged suggesting that pressure might have been applied with the intention of coercing certain judges from the Constitutional Court to resign, again linking this to the supposed ‘mysterious’ secret meeting.
Abrahamyan emphasized that no such meeting has taken place, particularly with such content or with the participation of the Prosecutor General. He stated that it is unnecessary to mention that no consultations or meetings could be held for such purposes or with such an agenda.
This false information, which has an evident manipulative nature, bears no relation to reality and aims to discredit those in power and the leaders of law enforcement agencies. I urge my respected colleagues in the media not to fall prey to such bait and to take measures to verify the authenticity of this information through official sources,” he concluded. He also called on readers and citizens using social media not to fall into the web of such manipulative information tricks.
