Serious Revelations Made as a Result of Investigative Committee's Work: Ararat Mirzoyan

The Chairman of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, shared on his Facebook page the publication from the Prosecutor's Office regarding abuses in the procurement process of counterfeit medals for the needs of the National Assembly.

Accompanying the publication, Mirzoyan wrote: "Months ago, we uncovered that the honorary medals and commemorative medals for the Chairman of the National Assembly acquired by the National Assembly's staff in 2015-2016, which according to technical specifications should have been made of silver coated with gold, were actually made of a copper-zinc alloy.

I am pleased to learn that serious revelations have been made as a result of the work of the Investigative Committee's Arabkir division. The Prosecutor's Office has charged two individuals. By court decision, detention has been selected as a measure of restraint for both defendants, though in both cases the detention has been replaced by bail. The decisions of the court are currently at the stage of appeal by the Prosecutor's Office.

Notably, during the course of the investigations, factual data concerning other apparent corrupt abuses within the National Assembly's staff during that time period have also been obtained. The pre-investigation continues."
