Anti-Corruption Committee Seeks to Re-Arrest Hrayr Tovmasyan's Protégé Norayr Panosyan

Today, January 8, during a court session at the Central and Norq-Marash District Court of Yerevan, the Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC) requested the re-arrest of Norayr Panosyan, a protégé of Hrayr Tovmasyan. The session is presided over by Judge Gagik Poghosyan.

It is noteworthy that on December 26, the ACC had added another episode to the charges against Norayr Panosyan. He is accused under Article 308, Part 2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences). Hrayr Tovmasyan, the President of the Constitutional Court, is also facing charges in the same case.

A statement released by the Investigative Committee indicated that information had been obtained regarding instances of abuse of official powers by Norayr Panosyan, officials from the Ministry of Justice, and the Yerevan City Hall during Hrayr Tovmasyan's tenure as Minister of Justice.

It should be noted that the decision to arrest Norayr Panosyan was made by Judge Artush Gabrielyan. The Court of Appeal, led by Judge Sergey Marabyan, had decided on November 6 to release Hrayr Tovmasyan's protégé from custody, who had been in detention since September 28.
