52 Individuals Suffer Injuries from Explosives and Fireworks, Says Minister

52 individuals have sought medical attention at healthcare centers in the Republic of Armenia due to injuries caused by explosives and fireworks. Health Minister Arsen Torosyan shared this information on his Facebook page.

“I do not want to spoil our celebration, but I am compelled to share this information and once again call for a complete abandonment of household explosives. In the last two days, healthcare centers in the Republic of Armenia have reported 52 individuals injured due to explosives/fireworks, including:

  • 8 (15%) children (ages 7-14),
  • 7 (13%) teenagers (ages 15-17), and
  • 37 (72%) adults (aged 18 and above).

In 49 cases, the injured sustained various types of injuries to their wrists and forearms.

Note: The image includes an X-ray of a 10-year-old child whose two distal phalanges were amputated on New Year's Eve.

Furthermore, bills aimed at restricting the sale of fireworks and explosives have already been introduced.
