We Say That It Was Not Ordinary Murder, But Necessary Defense: Khachatryan Sisters' Defense

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation disagrees with the qualification of the crime in the case of the Khachatryan sisters, who are accused of their father's brutal murder, reports mbk-news.appspot.com.

According to lawyer Mari Davtyan, the Prosecutor General’s Office has not signed the indictment within the case because it is not ready to classify the crime as a murder committed by a group of individuals upon prior agreement.

"This is exactly what we are disputing with the investigation. We say that it was not an ordinary murder, but necessary defense. Meanwhile, the investigation qualifies the girls' actions with the heaviest article – a group murder committed upon prior agreement," the lawyer stated.

She added that, according to her information, the Prosecutor General's Office also sees necessary defense in this case.

It is known that Maria, Angelina, and Kristina Khachatryan face up to 20 years of imprisonment for brutally murdering their father in July 2018. At the time of the murder, the sisters were 17, 18, and 19 years old. The investigation has revealed that their father subjected the daughters to psychological, physical, and sexual abuse for years.
