Russian Billionaires Record Wealth Growth Over Last Four Years

In 2019, the combined wealth of the 23 richest Russians grew at the highest rate in the last four years, increasing by $52.9 billion. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).

The index is calculated based on the stock prices of the companies in which these billionaires hold stakes. The BBI rankings include the world’s 500 richest individuals, of whom 23 are currently from Russia.

Occupying the top spot once again is Vladimir Potanin, one of the main owners of Norilsk Nickel, whose wealth increased by $8.5 billion to reach $28.2 billion in 2019. In second place is Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of Novatek, whose fortune grew by $5.2 billion to a total of $24.6 billion. The third position is held by Vagit Alekperov, co-owner of Lukoil, with his capital rising by $6.22 billion to $22.3 billion, as reported by RIA Novosti.
