Customs Duties Will Be Calculated Based on 2020 Rates If Payments Are Not Made
Recent reports have emerged indicating that some citizens fail to complete the customs clearance process after declaring imported vehicles, leaving their cars within the customs territory without paying the calculated customs fees. It appears they assume that simply declaring the vehicle is sufficient for it to be subject to the rates applicable in 2019.
The State Revenue Committee has announced that in such cases, if the declarant submits for the customs operations concerning the calculated payments and exemption after January 1, 2020, the customs duties for that vehicle will be calculated based on the rates effective from January 1, 2020.
In light of these situations, the SRC urges all citizens who have already performed the declarations for imported vehicles to also complete the calculated customs payments before the end of the current year. They should present themselves at customs to finalize the exemption-related customs operations and to take their vehicles out of the customs territory.
