Director of Yerevan Children's Home Liana Karapetyan Released on Bail of 3 Million Dram

The director of the Yerevan Children's Home, Liana Karapetyan, who is accused in a case of illegal adoption of children, has been released on bail of 3 million dram, reports Armtimes.com.

The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, under the chairmanship of judge Robert Papoyan, recently returned from a deliberation room and announced this decision, thereby satisfying the investigator's request for Karapetyan's detention, while allowing the application of bail.

In response to a question from 'Haykakan Zhamanak', Karapetyan's lawyer, Alexander Khachatryan, informed that the court has set the bail amount at 3 million AMD. Khachatryan noted that the court also recognized the decision to detain Liana Karapetyan as unlawful.

It should be reminded that Karapetyan is accused under Article 167, part 2, points 2 and 3 of the Armenian Criminal Code (illegal transfer or adoption of a child by a group of individuals acting in collusion, using their official position) and Article 314, part 1 (office forgery). She denies the charges presented against her.
