VIDEO: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Arrives in St. Petersburg

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the Eurasian Economic Union's Supreme Council meeting.

Upon arrival at the airport, Pashinyan was welcomed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation, Vardan Toghanyan. He was then met by the First Deputy Head of the Government of Leningrad Region, Chairman of the Finance Committee Roman Markov, the First Deputy Head of the Committee on External Relations of the Government of Leningrad Region, Inna Bigotskaya, and Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

Pashinyan will first participate in a narrow-format meeting of the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, followed by expanded-format discussions. Key issues concerning the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union will be discussed, including challenges aimed at further deepening cooperation and improving the functioning of the Eurasian single market.

Additionally, a summary of the achievements of the Eurasian Economic Commission over the past four years is expected, as well as the handover of the presidency of the EAEU for 2020 to the Republic of Belarus.

In St. Petersburg, Pashinyan will also attend an informal meeting of the heads of state of the CIS member states, which will also include Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. It is important to note that there are no scheduled meetings between the Armenian Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President.

A working lunch in honor of the heads of state of the CIS member states will be hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It should be noted that the previous meeting of the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union took place on October 1 in Yerevan.
