Mercedes Driver Hits and Kills Man Near Nor Hachn Bridge

On December 20, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 8:20 PM, 29-year-old Hamlet K., a resident of the 4th microdistrict of Abovyan, struck an unidentified 40-45-year-old man with his Mercedes vehicle, license plate 87 VD 008, at the beginning of the Nor Hachn bridge, in front of a gas station.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene, instead, he placed the injured man in his vehicle and transported him to the Abovyan Medical Center, after which he reported the incident to the Kotayk police.

While the Kotayk police operational group, led by department head Khoren Barkhoyan, and the head of the Kotayk regional police Sevan Kocharyan were en route to the hospital, a report was received from the hospital that the pedestrian, having never regained consciousness, had died.

Officers from the 1st platoon of the 3rd battalion of the traffic police, under the command of platoon commander Arthur Petrosyan and squad commander Tigran Kotanjyan, arrived at the scene. The investigation at the scene is being led by senior investigator Mayis Badoyan, who has initiated a criminal case based on Article 242, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The police are working to determine the identity of the deceased.
