The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Gemafin Gasparyan, reported at today's government meeting that they propose reallocating funds from the "Night Care Services" program to provide environmental assistance packages for families of children transferred to biological families and services for returning children from institutions providing round-the-clock care and protection to families.

Gasparyan emphasized that the direction towards families aims to promote the idea that children grow up within families and develop as citizens of Armenia in their communities.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing this issue, pointed out that there are forces in Armenia today trying to portray that the Armenian government is acting against family values and legal policy. “Interestingly, our government is pursuing a policy of returning children to families, while mechanisms for illegal adoptions existed during the times of the government that, waving the banner of national values, did what we all know, including specific political forces,” he stated.

According to Pashinyan, it is interesting that since 2003, Armenia has been obligated to provide housing for orphaned graduates of shelters, yet “national” governments and their affiliated parties have failed to address this issue. During this time, there have been ministers from well-known parties, and although there was a housing program for orphans, those apartments did not reach the children. “Now, if we go and investigate, find out something, and those people end up in prison, it will turn out that they are political prisoners, right? Those who have spent state resources on kebabs, in the name of the nation, are now protecting national values; if I say we will uncover kabab for kabab, they will say there is propaganda of hatred in Armenia,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

Gasparyan also noted that yesterday, certificates of apartments were already handed over to 18 graduates of the orphanage. The Prime Minister emphasized that the only way to ensure all children are safe from poverty is to provide proper education so that they receive training in professions that allow them to find suitable work in the job market.
