Video: Criminal Cases Opened Against 126 School Directors for Using Friends to Fill Positions

During today’s government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed issues related to education. “Let’s acknowledge that subjects such as history, the Armenian language, and literature are not being taught in our schools. When the ministry proposed conducting a unified exam last year, the entire educational system raised an uproar,” he stated.

The uproar, according to the Prime Minister, stemmed from the need to reveal that the grades and knowledge recorded in the records do not correspond to reality, as “there are currently criminal cases against the directors of 126 schools, who have brought in their friends and relatives, created positions in schools, and received salaries from the state without actually going to work.”

“Then they wonder why teachers' salaries are increased by 10% rather than 20%. Essentially, we are not only raising teachers’ salaries but also the salaries of thieves,” he remarked. According to the Prime Minister, if there are 126 criminal cases related to 222 incidents, this indicates that this phenomenon is widespread. “In general, regarding the state budget, there are 250 criminal cases, where over 500 fictitious individuals have been registered and received salaries. Unless we root out these phenomena, we will not achieve results. There are political forces that are in the process of political suffocation; now they are grasping at straws. If they need support to avoid suffocation, they should build their relations with the public in such a way that it does not escalate further,” he added.
