Victor Soghomonyan, Head of Kocharian's Office, Responds to Police Statement
The Armenian police have issued a statement revealing that supporters of Robert Kocharian are meeting with victims and eyewitnesses of the March 1, 2008 events, attempting to bribe them to withdraw their testimonies.
In an interview with NEWS.am, Victor Soghomonyan, the head of the second president's office, stated that this is an attempt to exert pressure on the Court of Appeal, which is set to announce its decision regarding Robert Kocharian's appeal for release on bail tomorrow.
"The police's announcement gives the impression of a cheap theatrical performance. The statement lacks specific details, and it is unclear which criminal case and testimony are being referred to. It is evident that this is an attempt to exert pressure on the Court of Appeal, which will announce its decision about Kocharian's bail appeal tomorrow. The last argument from the prosecution is that Robert Kocharian, if released, could influence witnesses, and look, even his supporters are influencing without him present. What would happen if he were free?" Soghomonyan said.
