«Joghvoroud». Citizens Are Not Being Given State License Plates or Technical Passports When Customs Clearing Vehicles

«Joghvoroud» newspaper reports that for some time now, when clearing vehicles through customs in Armenia, citizens are not provided with state license plates or technical passports. Instead, they are given only a temporary piece of paper, as the raw materials for license plates—iron sheets—and the plastic for technical passports have run out in Armenia.

Interestingly, ethnic Kazakhs and Russians, who are considered potential buyers of cars from Armenia, are facing difficulties at the Upper Lars checkpoint. This situation has significantly irritated car dealers, who are struggling to sell their vehicles during this time.

Why are we not prepared for such an influx, especially since it was well known that a large influx of vehicles was expected until the end of December 2020? Regarding this issue, «Joghvoroud» newspaper contacted the Police of the Republic of Armenia, which indicated that due to an unprecedented increase in the number of vehicles imported this year, protective plates have been depleted in the registration-examination territorial subdivisions. This means they are unprepared.
