As we have reported, today the Court of Appeal is holding proceedings in the case of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. During the session, the accused Robert Kocharyan was given the floor. During his speech, one of the attendees shouted from the audience that he poses a threat to the statehood.

Kocharyan deviated from the agenda of the trial, asking to speak to the citizen accusing him: "I request to speak since the trial is being covered by the media," said Kocharyan, continuing, "There are two Armenian states on the planet. I have been a leader in both. I was also president in Armenia, and before my presidency, Armenia was listed among the poor countries; during my presidency, the country became a middle-income state, and it remains so to this day. If a person who has ensured these results is deemed a threat, what can I say? We are a country of the forgetful."

Upon this statement, the situation in the hall became tense, and one of the attendees mentioned that Kocharyan had previously destroyed his family and threatened him. Judge Lusine Abgaryan ordered the police to remove the citizens to prevent interference with the trial.

Accused Kocharyan continued his statement, saying that this comment would not have happened if accusations had not been directed at him. Subsequently, the judge announced the date for the next hearing, which will take place on December 20 at 16:00.
