Transfer of Drugs and Prohibited Items Prevented in Penal Institutions

On December 17, around 18:30, an attempt to smuggle contraband was made in the vicinity of the "Kosh" penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia. Following a signal from the observation officer, security measures were immediately enhanced, and during the inspection carried out by the responding team, five jars filled with cognac were discovered.

The next day, around 09:00, the staff of the same institution, acting on operational information, continued the inspection in the vicinity of the smuggling site, near a concealed wall. They found five additional plastic jars, each with a capacity of 0.5 liters, filled with cognac and packaged with adhesive tape, as well as two metal containers of vodka under the brand name “НЕФТЬ”.

On December 17, around 14:00, employees of the "Sevan" penitentiary conducted an inspection of a package brought by a citizen H. H. for inmate A. S. During the examination, a suspicious substance resembling yeast for alcohol distillation was found, mixed with five boxes of oats.

On December 18, around 04:00, N. G., an inmate from the "Nubarashen" penitentiary, was transferred to the "Erebouni" medical center and was reported to want to use the common restroom. During a prior inspection by the staff of the institution, a cigarette box was found under the trash can in the restroom, containing two packets with a greenish substance resembling marijuana, weighing a total of 4.5 grams, as well as one bottle half-filled with a dark brown liquid resembling anhydride with a volume of 15 ml.

This information is reported by the Department of Family Relations of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice. Preparatory materials are being prepared on the facts, and a forensic chemical examination has been appointed.
