Resident of Zovuni Village Surrenders Arms and Ammunition to Police
As a result of ongoing educational efforts, on December 17, a 50-year-old man, a resident of Zovuni village, voluntarily surrendered a type ‘F1’ grenade with a detonator, homemade smoke grenades, and more than 50 rounds of ammunition for a submachine gun to the police station of Kotayk Regional Department in Nairi.
This was reported by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
Additionally, a 72-year-old man from Nerk’in Getashen village arrived at the Martuni police station and voluntarily handed over a factory-numbered ‘TOZ’ rifle, designed to fire 16mm caliber bullets. According to the man, the firearm belonged to his father.
On December 15, an incident of voluntary surrender of illegally held arms and ammunition was registered at the Kotayk police station. A 68-year-old resident of Abovyan city brought a homemade grenade, detonator, smoke bomb, and more than 100 rounds of various calibers among other items. Forensic examinations have been appointed.
It is worth noting that those who voluntarily surrender illegally held arms and ammunition are exempt from criminal liability.
