Medication Sold in Grocery Store: Regulatory Authority Initiates Proceedings

The State Health and Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia has initiated administrative proceedings based on a citizen's complaint. This was reported to Armenpress by the Inspectorate.

According to them, there are suspicions regarding the legitimacy of the license of a pharmacy owned by an individual entrepreneur operating in the village of Argel, Kotayk region. Furthermore, medications are being sold alongside food products in inappropriate conditions.

Following the complaint, inspectors conducted a review at the mentioned business to verify compliance with the requirements established by the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Medicines regarding retail sales, as well as the licensing requirements for pharmacy activities set forth by the government decision number 867 dated June 29, 2002.

The review revealed that the medications were stored in a segregated cabinet within the store, which violates the regulations established by the government.

Basing their actions on the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Licensing, the head of the Inspectorate submitted a proposal on December 16, 2019, in a letter to the Minister of Health of Armenia, to consider the suspension of the license issued to this company in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures and deadlines.
