Man Who Swallowed Needle Undergoes Surgery
Recently, a 57-year-old male patient from a mental health preservation center was transferred to the "Surp Grigor Lusavorich" medical center due to acute abdominal pain. According to the medical center's press service, the man insisted that the intensity of his abdominal pain was the result of swallowing a needle.
Investigations carried out at the center confirmed his claim, as the needle was found outside the stomach within the abdominal cavity. Surgeons from the general surgery department decided, after diagnostic tests, to remove the needle through surgical intervention. During the one-hour surgery, the needle was removed; at that moment, it had already exited the stomach and had started to damage the front wall of the stomach and the greater omentum. The patient is expected to be discharged today.
