Court Arrests 58-Year-Old Man for Stealing $70,000 and €3,000; Son Released on Signature

On December 16, the head of the Investigative Department of the Aragatsotn Regional Investigative Committee, Ambakuni Grigoryan, approved the establishment of an investigative group led by senior investigator Tigran Karapetyan, who submitted a request to the General Jurisdiction Court of the Ararat Region for the court to impose a two-month detention as a preventive measure against 58-year-old Robert Harutyunyan, a resident of Nor Kharberd, charged with committing a particularly large-scale theft.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, the president of the court, Grigor Hovhannisyan, held a closed hearing and, upon returning from the advisory room, granted the senior investigator’s request. As a result, Harutyunyan, who is suspected of stealing $70,000 and €3,000, was detained.

As reported by the photojournalist, within the framework of the initiated criminal case, a signature was taken from the detained man's son, 25-year-old Nver Harutyunyan, to ensure he would not leave his residence. Police in Masis also discovered drugs in a vehicle purchased by Nver, who admitted that the drugs belonged to him.
