Weightlifters Prepare for World Cup Competition

The Armenian weightlifting team is preparing for the next round of the World Cup. The competition taking place in Doha will see participation from Ruben Aleksanyan, Gor Minasyan, Hakob Mkrtchyan, Andranik Karapetyan, Izabella Yalyan, and Tatevik Hakobyan.

In an interview with Armenpress, the team’s coach Vigen Khachatryan emphasized that the team is preparing not only for the World Cup phase but also for several international competitions set for 2020. “The Doha competition will award ranking points to athletes who will fight for a spot at the Tokyo Olympic Games next year. Simon Martirosyan is already ready for the most significant event of the four-year cycle, Tokyo 2020. Gor Minasyan is nearly prepared, while the others are gradually getting into shape,” he stated.

The European Championship will also be crucial for ranking points for these weightlifters.
