A Statue of Tumanyan to Be Installed Near the Quirinal Palace in Italy
A statue of Hovhannes Tumanyan will be installed in a garden adjacent to the Quirinal Palace, the presidential residence of Italy, in Rome. This was confirmed by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information and Public Diplomacy Department in response to an inquiry from Armenpress. By preliminary agreement, the statue will be a bust.
The author and the material from which the bust will be made have yet to be determined, considering that the statue must meet certain standards required by the Italian side. It is currently unclear whether the statue will be produced in Armenia or Italy. Efforts are being made to install the bust during 2020.
As for the installation of a statue of Komitas in Milan, this idea is still in the preliminary discussion phase, and no further details have been disclosed. The year 2019 marked the 150th anniversaries of the birth of the renowned Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan and the illustrious composer Komitas, which were included in UNESCO's calendar of "Famous People and Significant Events."
