Citizens to Visit State Theaters Three Times a Year, Says Minister
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Zaruhi Batoyan, announced on her Facebook page that starting from February 2020, opportunities for persons with disabilities and pensioners to participate in cultural activities will be increased.
“In order to ensure this right, we have improved procedures in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, increasing the scope to include museums. It will no longer be necessary to obtain tickets in advance from social services, and individuals can simply approach cultural institutions with their passport and, if necessary, documentation verifying their disability. Thus, our citizens will be able to visit any state theater three times a year and each museum twice a month. As a result, they will have at least 48 performances annually and will be able to visit museums free of charge every day,” stated Minister Batoyan.
“I hope that cultural institutions will do everything possible to ensure both physical and substantive accessibility,” she added.
