A Military Serviceman in Yerevan Strikes a 54-Year-Old Pedestrian with His Car, Resulting in Death
Today, a pedestrian was struck in Yerevan. At approximately 00:10, a 23-year-old resident of Yerevan, Gagik B., while driving a Kia with license plate 15 OR 115, hit a pedestrian named Vahan Sh., 54 years old, at the intersection of Erebuni and Artsakh streets. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene, called for an ambulance, and assisted the medical personnel who arrived promptly at the scene in transporting the injured individual to the hospital.
Traffic police arrived on site. The responsible officer on duty at Yerevan’s traffic police operational management center, Mikael Agababyan, informed the investigative department about the incident, from where a group led by department head Khachik Samvelyan and senior investigator Hovhannes Sargsyan arrived. Materials have been prepared regarding the incident, and these materials will be forwarded to the traffic crime investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in Yerevan, as hours later, a notification was received from the hospital that the pedestrian had passed away without regaining consciousness.
According to G. Shamshyan, driver Gagik B. serves in the Armenian Ministry of Defense's military unit number N. By the investigator's order, the vehicle has been moved to a designated area protected by Yerevan's traffic police.
