Yerevan's Air Has Become Hazardous to Health: Eco-Media
The Eco-Media network has raised an alarm: “The air in Yerevan has become hazardous to health due to old vehicles. Today, the map shows even more pollution than yesterday. I made a post regarding the global air pollution map and the situation in Armenia that was depicted in that map. I decided to download this map from the Google Market and monitor the pollution levels of the air as I move around. The picture is alarmingly concerning.
The reason cited is the exceeding levels of PM2.5. These are fine particles that primarily pollute the air with heavy metals, leading to various pulmonary diseases when inhaled. The main culprits are the old vehicles imported into our country and mining activities. These vehicles lack filters, and within one or two years, due to them, our country has become hazardous to health according to World Health Organization standards. Tourists are advised to be cautious in Armenia, at least wearing masks. Yet, we claim that China and India are the polluted ones.”
