Snow Falling in Five Regions of the Republic
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of December 13 at 18:00, the roadways in the Republic of Armenia are mainly passable. The Sotk-Karabakh road is open for all types of vehicles, while heavy trucks can proceed with the use of tire chains.
There are patches of black ice on the Vardenyats Pass and the Sotk-Karabakh road. Snow is falling in the Aragatson, Kotayk, and Shirak regions, as well as in Jermuk in the Vayots Dzor region and Spitak in the Lori region.
Fog is present in Abovyan of Kotayk region and Ashtarak in Aragatsotn region. According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Department and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
Construction work is taking place on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Bagratashe road, which has resulted in the closure of that road segment for heavy vehicles. An alternative route has been established via the Dilijan-Noyemberyan-Bagratashe road.
