EU Extends Sanctions Against Russia for Six Months
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated that the current progress in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine is insufficient to lift sanctions against Russia. According to RIA Novosti, during a summit held in Brussels, leaders of EU member countries decided to extend economic sanctions against Russia for six months.
“It can be said that there has been some progress on this issue, but it is not enough for us to lift the sanctions. Therefore, we unanimously decided to extend them,” Merkel said.
