Yerevan's Courtyards to be Equipped with Sports Equipment

In Yerevan, the community budget for 2020 allocates 1 billion 34 million 100 thousand drams for the renovation of existing courtyards and the creation of new ones. According to the information and public relations department of the Yerevan municipality, within this budget, it is also planned that the courtyards will be equipped with new sports equipment as needed.

Mini football fields will not be constructed in the courtyards next year under the community budget; however, this gap will be filled in other ways. Specifically, several sports grounds are planned to be built within the framework of the “Active Citizen” platform. There have been several new ideas proposed by citizens for the improvement of courtyards that will be implemented in 2020 with the project budget.

Regarding the courtyards that are still predominantly occupied by garages, the municipality reported that based on studies conducted under Yerevan's zoning projects, work will be carried out to establish norms for the improvement of playgrounds. According to the program, improvements will be made in administrative districts, particularly in the courtyard areas of buildings.

The program specifically addresses the cleaning of areas burdened by improperly placed garages and dilapidated structures, the construction of underground parking lots on site, and the preparation of parks, recreation areas, and children's playgrounds above ground, along with greening and beautification efforts.
