With 18 Days Left Until Year-End, Are We Just Realizing We Need These Loans? – Gorgisyan
The government has presented four loan agreements for urgent discussion in the National Assembly, under which Armenia is to take more than 120 million euros in loans by the end of the year. The Deputy Minister of Finance explained that these loans were planned as part of the 2019 budget.
“With 18 days left until the end of 2019, are we just realizing that we need this?” asked Gevorg Gorgisyan, a member of the LHK faction.
Deputy Minister Armen Hayrapetyan clarified that the signing of the agreements is not solely dependent on the Armenian government, and negotiations with international organizations have been conducted during this time. Hayrapetyan also informed that the loan agreements were ultimately finalized in November, but there were subsequent procedures involving the Constitutional Court and others, which led to the agreements only now reaching the National Assembly.
