Shooting Incident in Tavush Region Leaves One Injured
On December 11, gunshots were reported in the Tavush region. Around 21:30, the Dilijan medical center notified the Dilijan police that a citizen with severe gunshot wounds had been transferred to their facility.
According to shamshyan.com, police and investigators from the Tavush region have determined that the gunshot wounds were inflicted on A. Ghalechyan by A. Balinyan, who subsequently fled the scene in a Range Rover.
G. Shamshyan reports that the injured A. Ghalechyan has a previous criminal history and is currently a suspect in another criminal case. Last year, he fired shots with a firearm he possessed at Aragats Tamrazyan near the Dilijan National Park. He was arrested on suspicion of committing that offense but was released on bail by Tavush region judge Samvel Mardanyan. Following this decision, the Tavush regional prosecutor's office and the investigative department filed an appeal with the appellate court, which granted the request, leading to A. Ghalechyan's re-arrest.
Subsequently, Judge Zoya Zakinyan of the Shamshadin residence in the Tavush region once again released A. Ghalechyan on bail for a particularly serious criminal case, despite the appellate court’s ruling.
