NATO Experts Visit Armenia

From December 9 to 12, a group of NATO experts, providing advisory support to the Armenian Ministry of Defense on the development of defense education and the enhancement of good governance, visited Yerevan. This information was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Defense.

The purpose of the visit was to summarize the cooperation projects of 2019 with the personnel and military education department of the Ministry of Defense and military educational institutions, participate in preliminary discussions regarding the cooperation program for 2020, and launch the pilot program for the subject “Good Governance and Ethics” intended for fourth-year cadets of military educational institutions.

Representatives of relevant departments of the Ministry of Defense, heads and faculty of the Armenian National Defense Research University, the military university named after V. Sargsyan, and the military aviation university named after Marshal A. Khudyakov were involved in the discussions with the advisory group.

During a working meeting held at the Ministry of Defense, the Armenian side presented reports on the reforms implemented in the military education sector and military educational institutions.

From December 10 to 12, the advisory group visited military educational institutions and held meetings with the leadership of these institutions and those responsible for the educational process. Briefings were presented on the review of training programs, retraining of faculty, new teaching methodologies, and specific projects implemented with the assistance of the advisory group.

The group also made an introductory visit to the military medical faculty of Yerevan State Medical University named after Mikayel Heratsi, where they became acquainted with the main directions of the institution's activities.

The results of the visit were summarized on December 12 during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Defense, Gabriel Balayan. Agenda items regarding the reforms in military education were discussed, and pathways for further cooperation were outlined.
