National Security Service Reveals Cases of Forging and Using False Official Documents

The National Security Service of Armenia, prioritizing the fight against various manifestations of corruption, has uncovered cases of forging and using false official documents in accordance with its designated legal functions aimed at combating corruption. This was achieved through operational-investigative measures and investigative actions.

According to preliminary data, a resident of Lusaghbyur village in the Shirak province, at the request of his brother living in Belgium, promised to acquire and provide documents containing false information regarding health and military service in the Republic of Artsakh, aiming at prolonging the process of obtaining citizenship in that country and addressing health issues.

For this purpose, he reached a preliminary agreement with the head of the territorial division of the Union of Volunteers and personally printed false data regarding his brother's military service in Artsakh on a form bearing the Union’s emblem, which was then signed and stamped with the Union's seal. During the same period, he also approached the director of one of the health centers operating in Armenia and received a false medical certificate concerning his brother's health.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Department of the National Security Service of Armenia under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A pre-trial investigation is underway.

Note: A suspect or accused person is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and by a court judgment that has entered into legal force.
