Mr. Prime Minister, your appointment has made me the head of the Council on Women’s Issues, and it has given rise to intense discussions: Avinyan
During today’s government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan addressed the newly established Council on Women’s Issues.
“Mr. Prime Minister, your appointment has made me the head of the Council on Women’s Issues, and it has given rise to intense discussions, because, in fact, the president of the council is a man,” said Avinyan.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded, “Well, who else should it be?”
“I hope that in the not-so-distant future we will have a female Deputy Prime Minister who will deal with this,” added Avinyan. In response, the Prime Minister stated that it is better to have a council on men’s issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that issues regarding the prevention of violence and those affected by violence have been discussed in the Council on Women’s Issues. “We will have individual packages that are targeted and based on facts. Our statistics will also improve. I believe we can work much more specifically and in that direction, we are working,” concluded Avinyan.
