Karen Karapetyan Appointed in Russia

The former Prime Minister of Armenia, Karen Karapetyan, has been appointed as a member of the advisory council under the Russian government. According to Interfax, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree today establishing the composition of the advisory council, with former head of the Russian presidential administration, Alexander Voloshin, appointed as coordinator.

“In addition to Voloshin, the council includes three former heads of the Russian government: Viktor Zubkov, Sergey Stepashin, and Mikhail Fradkov, as well as former Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. In the decree, he is mentioned as an advisor to the chairman of the board of Gazprombank and is also part of the board of directors of Zarubezhneft,” the website reports.

In total, the advisory council comprises 15 members. The presidency determines the directions of the council's activities and shapes its position on strategically significant issues related to the government's authority.
