Armenia to Have Customs Attaché at Upper Lars
During today’s government meeting, the chairman of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan, presented a draft decision on establishing the status and operations of a customs attaché at the Armenian Embassy in the Russian Federation. He noted that an agreement has been reached to appoint a customs attaché who will be able to provide rapid solutions or proposals for arising issues at Upper Lars.
According to the chairman of the State Revenue Committee, there will be one customs attaché operating under the Armenian diplomatic service in Russia, who will hold a consultative status. The appointment and dismissal of the attaché is the responsibility of the Armenian government.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentioned that during this time, Armenia has not encountered major crises or insurmountable situations at Upper Lars. “It can be recorded that we have a very good working environment with our partners in Russia and Georgia, and we are working very effectively. The status of the customs attaché will help alleviate the burden on the Armenian government members regarding all issues, because many important questions sometimes suffer from this,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, also welcomed this decision, stating, “I am confident that having our attaché there will facilitate many issues, and it is very commendable that we are providing a solution to this matter.”
