Armen Sarkissian Hosts World-Famous Violinist Maxim Vengerov

The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, hosted world-renowned violinist and double Grammy Award winner Maxim Vengerov today, December 12. He was accompanied by Sergey Smbatyan, the artistic director and chief conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, as reported by the presidential press service.

The collaboration between the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and the distinguished artist will kick off the 7th Aram Khachaturian International Festival on December 14.

Welcoming the guests, the president expressed his happiness at seeing his long-time friend and esteemed artist in Armenia once again. He praised Maxim Vengerov's artistry and noted with satisfaction that the Armenian audience will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the virtuoso violinist's exceptional talent.

Sergey Smbatyan considered it one of the key achievements of the current concert season that, according to a memorandum signed with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Maxim Vengerov will serve as the orchestra's resident artist during the 2019-2020 concert season.

Expressing his gratitude to the president for the invitation, Maxim Vengerov spoke about his close ties with Armenia and emphasized that these connections deepen each time he visits, receiving a warm welcome from music lovers. He also touched upon the cooperation with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and the upcoming joint projects.
