What the Republican Party MPs Said to Alen Simonian: Details
“The Republic has been occupied by Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan,” stated the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, during a conversation with reporters. According to him, politically, these two individuals have created the Armenia that, at different times, needed to serve Robert Kocharyan and then Serzh Sargsyan.
“And a part of that service system has been the judicial system. This is why journalists and international organizations have repeatedly used the term ‘political prisoners’ regarding the change of owners in the economic sector, and the habit of calling judges from Bagramyan 26. Today, there is a problem in the judicial system, and a significant part of this system needs to be reassessed. The people changed the power, and then a problem arose with the legislative body. I will not hesitate to remind you of October 2, when an attempt was made to stop the popular movement, the revolution,” he noted.
Alen Simonian mentioned that he wants to reveal a secret today: “A few days before October 2, there was a celebration in the parliament yard dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the parliament, and there, two Republican MPs from that time told me, ‘Just a little more, we underestimated you, but now you underestimate us. You will see what will happen in a few days.’ I can even name names, but I don’t want to promote these individuals. At that time, I did not understand what they were talking about, but October 2 happened.”
It should be noted that on October 2, a protest was organized demanding the dissolution of the National Assembly. At the request of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, his supporters gathered in the evening on Marshal Bagramyan and Karen Demirchyan streets, blocking the building of the National Assembly. Pashinyan announced that he had instructed all ministers from the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation to submit their resignations.
