Turkey Threatens to Close US Incirlik Air Base

If Washington imposes sanctions on Ankara due to the purchase of S-400 missile defense systems from Moscow, Turkey will take retaliatory action. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

“We anticipate the worst-case scenario and will make a decision. If the United States imposes sanctions against Turkey, then the issue of Incirlik and Kiracik bases may come onto the agenda,” Cavusoglu announced during a broadcast on A Haber television. The Incirlik and Kiracik bases are located in southern and southeastern Turkey. The Minister clarified that in the event of sanctions, the Incirlik air base would be closed.
