Prime Minister Discusses Cooperation Agenda with World Bank Regional Director

The press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia reports that Nikol Pashinyan today received Sebastien Molinue, the Regional Director of the World Bank for South Caucasus. Also present at the meeting was Sylvie Bossout, the head of the World Bank office in Armenia.

The Prime Minister praised the cooperation with the World Bank and emphasized that the partnership is fully aligned with the priorities of the Armenian government and the country’s development vision.

Nikol Pashinyan noted that in 2019, Armenia's economy recorded significant growth and achievements, as evidenced by the recorded indicators, creating favorable conditions for continuing reforms with even greater momentum and consistency.

In the context of ensuring economic growth, implementing tax reforms, promoting economic initiatives, executing infrastructure projects, and creating opportunities for SMEs and micro-businesses, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of effective cooperation with the World Bank.

The Regional Director of the World Bank for South Caucasus expressed gratitude for the effective cooperation and reaffirmed the Bank’s readiness to continue mutual beneficial partnership. In this regard, he mentioned the approval by the World Bank’s board in November of the budget support program “Development Policy Operation for Governance in Armenia,” under which the Bank will continue to provide technical and financial assistance for the development of various sectors in Armenia.

According to the press service, the interlocutors exchanged views on ongoing joint programs and discussed the prospects for expanding the partnership. They particularly touched upon the possibilities for cooperation in programs aimed at economic growth, tourism, technology, innovation, digitalization, infrastructure development in transportation, and the implementation of reforms in the judicial, educational, and healthcare sectors.
