Police Structures to be Equipped with Cameras to Prevent Torture
The entrances and exits of police buildings, interrogation rooms, and other areas will be equipped with cameras to prevent torture of individuals there. This project was presented today to the profile committee of the National Assembly by Deputy Chief of Police Tigran Esayan.
The recordings can be provided to the interrogated individuals and their representatives, to pre-trial bodies, to the Office of the Human Rights Defender, as well as to observers.
The police plan to install the cameras within three years. In the 20 police stations in Yerevan, these cameras are expected to be installed this month.
