North-South Corridor's Kajaran-Agarak Section to Enable 100 km/h Speed

The ongoing work on the southern direction of the North-South road corridor investment project continues. Specifically, the Kajaran-Agarak section of Tranche-4 of the North-South road corridor is undergoing design work. For the detailed design of this section, the Transport Programs Implementation Organization has announced an international competition, which resulted in the company ‘AIAR D.I. Engineering’ (Italy) and ‘G.P. Engineering’ (Italy) being declared the winner.

According to the public relations department of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia, the designing organization has carried out certain research works based on which various options for optimizing the road segment's design have been prepared. This will allow for the preparation of a technically justified project and eventually construct a road segment that will meet European modern standards in its technical specifications.

The design work is expected to be completed by the end of 2020, after which a competition for the selection of a contracting organization will be held, and construction will commence. The reconstruction of the Kajaran-Agarak section of Tranche-4 will be financed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund. A total of about 32 km of road segment is planned to be constructed with the second technical category (calculated speed of 100 km/h).
