Naira Zohrabyan Discusses Complaints Against Armenia at the ECHR

Today, at the Human Rights Protection Commission, issues concerning complaints against Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) were discussed with Armenia's representative, Yeghishe Kirakosyan. This was reported by the Commission's President, Naira Zohrabyan.

“For the European Court, is the inhumane torture of the Khalapyan family in Talish not sufficient grounds? Thus, due to the disgraceful decisions made by Armenia's three-tier judicial system, Armenia has paid more than $3 million from its state budget to date, a significant portion of which is due to the hooliganism adventure on North Avenue, when people were thrown out of their homes and were given small compensation,” she stated.

“We will discuss the issue of legislatively regulating this matter so that the state does not pay because of the illegal actions of various criminal officials at the expense of taxpayers. Naturally, we also discussed the issue of the torture of Armenian soldiers and civilians by Azerbaijani marauders during the April War, some of which are currently under the investigation of the European Court.”

“However, one thing is unclear: by what criteria does the European Court of Human Rights consider the inhumane torture of the Khalapyan family in Talish and the humiliation of elderly people as insufficient evidence to initiate proceedings against Azerbaijani terrorists? These are questions, as well as the case of Safarov, who stabbed Gurgen Margaryan, regarding which the ECHR's decision is expected soon, and this should be on our agenda every day and hour,” the MP wrote on her Facebook page.
