Gathering in Support of Nikol Pashinyan
"Joghovurd" newspaper reports that on December 14, independent MP Arman Babajanyan will hold a gathering in Yerevan. This will be Babajanyan's first political gathering after leaving the 'Bright Armenia' faction and becoming an independent MP. According to the newspaper, the independent MP has decided to become active from this point onward, gather colleagues, and start work on establishing a political party. He has sent invitations to various political and public representatives to participate in the gathering.
The upcoming gathering on December 14 is seen as the first step towards creating a new party. Essentially, the MP is also activating the extra-parliamentary life and attempting to bring individuals or forces not represented in parliament into the political arena, provided they have no connections to the former authorities.
In a conversation with the newspaper, independent MP Arman Babajanyan did not deny the fact of holding a gathering on that day but emphasized that it is unrelated to party-building efforts, elaborating: "The gathering on that day unites us on one issue, which is inviolable. It is the revolutionary agenda, which can see the government's rating fall, but the rating of the revolution will not. We are ready to defend this agenda in every possible way."
In response to the question of what is being done regarding party-building, he emphasized: "My efforts to create a separate political entity have completely failed, as our discussions did not yield results. Next year, I will present a separate initiative."
