Charges Filed Against 56-Year-Old Man for Illegal Drug Trafficking

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the illegal production, processing, acquisition, storage, transport, or distribution of large quantities of drugs or psychoactive substances without the intent to sell. Charges have been filed against a man born in 1963.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, the 56-year-old man illegally acquired drugs for the purpose of selling from an unknown individual between November and December 2019 and sold heroin several times to an acquaintance born in 1973 on Warsaw Street in Yerevan for money.

Additionally, on December 4, 2019, at the same address, the 56-year-old man illegally sold heroin in exchange for 1 ton of scrap metal to the man born in 1973, part of which was used by the latter on the same day. The remaining substantial amount—totaling 0.293 grams of heroin—was kept for further use and found on the man during a personal search conducted by the Ararakir division of the Police of Armenia that same day.

Based on the gathered evidence, charges have been filed against the man born in 1963 under Article 266, Part 1 (3 episodes) and Article 266, Part 2, Section 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The preventive measure chosen for him is detention, while the man born in 1973 has been involved as a suspect with a preventive measure of a signature not to leave.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and complete investigation of the circumstances of the case.
