Italian Disappointed by Nutella After Learning It Contains Turkish Hazelnuts
Former Italian Interior Minister, former assistant to the Prime Minister, and leader of the right-wing opposition Matteo Salvini has expressed his disappointment with Nutella after learning that the chocolate spread contains Turkish hazelnuts, according to ermenihaber.
"I learned that Turkish hazelnuts are used in the making of Nutella; I prefer to support organizations that use Italian products," he stated.
The opposition figure urged the famous Italian company Ferrero, which owns the Nutella brand, to use only Italian hazelnuts.
It is notable that Turkey accounts for 70% of global hazelnut production and export, followed by Italy with 20%. The largest buyer is the Italian company Ferrero.
