Former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov Passes Away
Yuri Luzhkov, the former mayor of Moscow, has passed away at the age of 84. Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov was born on September 21, 1936, in Moscow. On June 6, 1992, following the resignation of Gavriil Popov, Boris Yeltsin appointed Luzhkov as the mayor of Moscow and head of the city administration. He was re-elected as mayor in June 1996, December 1999, and December 2003.
