Why the Draft to Include Soldiers with 3rd Degree Disability in the Compensation System Was Not Accepted
The National Assembly member from the "Enlightened Armenia" party, Mane Tandilyan, made a post on her Facebook page, which we present below.
"The ruling faction marked its year of receiving the people's vote with a peculiar vote by voting against my legislative proposal to include soldiers with 3rd degree disability in the compensation system.
The discussion of the issue in the committee was conducted 4 times, including in closed sessions, where all justifications were presented, including a detailed analysis of the financial model, which proved that the adoption of the proposal does not jeopardize the current stability of the fund, nor in the future, in case new groups are included.
With such justification, the committee not only provided a positive conclusion but also during the discussion of the issue, members of the My Step faction supported the adoption of the proposal, rejecting the government's incomprehensible negative stance.
Moreover, the government’s position was clearly political, based on the exclusive authority of the Ministry of Defense in regulating the sector, regardless of the importance and objectives of the issue.
This draft should not have become an object of political manipulation. Both in the committee and during the plenary session, the discussions took place in an atmosphere of exceptional solidarity, aimed at a common goal.
Unfortunately, what happened before the vote has no explanation and once again demonstrates the government's steps aimed at diminishing the role of Parliament.
I thank the deputies who did not vote against the proposal, including some from the My Step faction.
I will once again put the draft into circulation, prioritizing the lives and health of servicemen over any political discussion."
