Revealed: Over Twenty Cases of Car Theft
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has disclosed more than twenty cases of thefts from vehicles following extensive investigative and procedural actions conducted by the Arabkir division of the Yerevan City Investigation Department. A 30-year-old resident of Yerevan has been arrested in connection with these incidents.
According to the data obtained in the criminal case, between June and October 2019, the Yerevan resident, born in 1989, engaged in secret thefts of others' property. In two instances, he acted with prior agreement with another resident of Yerevan, breaking the windows of parked vehicles on various streets in Yerevan to illegally access their interiors and steal cash, bags, bank cards, and other belongings.
Furthermore, the 30-year-old man used the stolen bank cards to perform cash transactions, some of which he was unable to complete due to circumstances beyond his control.
During the pre-trial investigation, a decision was made to involve him as a suspect, and arrest was selected as a measure of constraint; a search notice was issued for him. Following operational-search measures, the 30-year-old was located on November 29, 2019. He has been charged under several provisions of the Armenian Criminal Code, specifically, Article 177 Part 2 Point 3 (15 episodes), Article 34-177 Part 2 Point 3 (2 episodes), Article 177 Part 2 Points 1 and 3 (2 episodes), and Article 185 Part 1 (4 episodes).
A motion has been submitted to the court to reaffirm his arrest as a measure of constraint, which has been approved. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to identify any other potential victims of the crimes committed by the 30-year-old man.
